INFO MARCH

The West End Theater was chartered six seasons ago to bring the finest local and regional theater, dance and music to the Cape Ann audience. WET has staged over 100 shows in its quest to make the theater-going experience more accessible, less pretentious and just plain easier and more affordable for its target audience.

The Third WET season brought us a wonderful synergy as Lynda Robinson departed from her management duties at Gloucester Stage Company to bring her acting, producing and teaching instincts and credentials home to us. She is one of the most connected actresses to the Boston scene and knows absolutely everyone in the industry. It is with excitement and joy that we welcome her in partnership at WET. More about Lynda below.

Meanwhile, WET has acquired a batch of new theater seats to soothe the fannies of its patrons. We are air conditioned and raring to get you into our space to enjoy musicals, comedy, drama, jazz, dance and history plays. The theater is managed and programmed by Gordon Baird and now, the fabulous Lynda. So come join us. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious and ultimately, the easiest theater evening you'll ever have. We guarantee you'll enjoy yourself and save a bunch of money for after-show drinks.

Located in a Historic Landmark building, a gorgeous four-story brick beauty with cupola at the confluence of Gloucester's three main streets, Rogers, Main and Washington, directly adjacent to free parking in the red-bricked free city lot. It is called the Blackburn Building after the famous Howard Blackburn although a lot of folks refer to it as the Blackburn Tavern Building due to the popular Tavern below.
Lynda has been working in theatre, film & TV for the past 20 years and is one of the most highly respected performers and teachers in Boston. She worked as the Managing Director for Gloucester Stage Company for the 2003 and 2004 seasons, and is honored to be joining the West End Theatre as producer, director and actor. She is a published playwright, having received several Playwrighting Awards, and an accomplished actor, honored with the Outstanding Boston Actress Award at the 1993 Elliot Norton Awards.
Lynda has performed in hundreds of commercials, corporate videos, and voice-overs as well as performing principal roles in film and TV. Her most recent work includes the independent films, Treading Water, Dead Silent, The Retreat, and Johnny Slade’s Greatest Hits. And now she's all WET — producing, directing, acting, and teaching. Lynda also teaches "The Business of Acting" at Emerson College.

Gordon Baird is the founder of the West End Theater, the Ocean Club, Gloucester Chicken Shack (cable TV show), Gloucester Kids Theater Club and Billboard’s Musician Magazine. He is a veteran of dozens of plays and music revues and has performed at North Shore Music Theater, Seacoast Repertory Theater, The Firehouse, Boston Revels and GSC. Gordon has produced over 80 shows at West End Theater in Gloucester, is a dyed-in-the-wool everyday sailor and lives on a farm with 2 goats, 3 kids, wife Joe Ann, pony, 3 rabbits, tractor, dog/cats and a very personable piggie.
